About
Dave Brown has been a performing magician for about 30 years and during that time has been asked numerous times to teach various aspects of magic covering theory right through to specific sleights and full routines.

The problem he has encountered on numerous occasions, usually from self-styled working performers, is that the students rarely understood the difference between a magician and someone who 'does tricks'.

To clear things up;
  • A magician is someone who performs magic, it just happens, they are not working hard to make it happen and the ending is completely unexpected.
  • Someone who 'does tricks' is someone who can be seen to be working to achieve something. The audience may not see the sleights but they are certainly aware that something is happening because the actions of the 'magician' are unnatural. The ending although unexpected is diminished as a result of the audience knowing that something will happen.
MagiciansBookshelf.com eBooks will teach you a more natural style of handling the sleights where the moves blend into one another and the natural properties of the objects in use are exploited to allow you to relax and concentrate on presentation.

Economy of movement will always separate the amateur from the true professional.

MagiciansBookshelf.com is not interested in 'cashing in' on the latest name in magic, if the book does not contain practical information then we will not publish it.
